Walking in North Wales

A large, Victorian house just minutes from Bangor’s town centre. As an alternative to the mountains of Snowdonia why not try a walk on part of the coastal path of the nearby Isle of Anglesey, or visit the historic castles at Penrhyn and Caernarfon.

This hostel’s picturesque location, two miles from the village that shares its name, is part of a very lively and busy hotel and tourist complex, and is a very poplar location for walkers of all ability. Like Capel Curig the nearest direct assent is that of Moel Siabod, but for the less energetic a beautiful woodland river walk taking in Swallow Falls starts right outside the door.

Experience Snowdonia at its most serene in this early Victorian mansion in the heart of the National Park. Set in 40 acres of wooded grounds with stunning views over Llyn Gwynant and Snowdon, this is the perfect escape from the rat race, relaxing and unwinding in unspoilt Snowdonia, a true 'get away from it all' location. Walkers will be at home here, with plenty of low and high level routes all around. Don't miss the classic Watkin path up Snowdon, which begins less than a mile from the hostel and leads you into incredible mountain scenery - just don't forget your camera.

The views of Moel Siabod and the Snowdon Horseshoe from this hostel will have you itching to put on your walking boots and explore Snowdonia. Scale the mountains or enjoy easy wanders through the forest alongside the River Llugwy. From Capel Curig the unique assent is Moel Siabod, a solitary mountain, separated from all the other high peaks of northern Snowdonia. Note: breakfast is included in the price, but evening meals are only available to pre-booked groups of 10 or more.

A 10 minute walk from the centre, this modern hostel is on a hill just outside the historic walls and enjoys panoramic views of Conwy's medieval castle.
