“My husband and I work long hours in London and couldn’t wait to catch the train and head to North Wales for a relaxing weekend. We stayed at one of the premier hotels in the elegant Victorian seaside town of Llandudno. Antique furniture, silk drapes and marble bathrooms made this a really special place, and the perfect setting for our romantic getaway.
Walking in Snowdonia was an option (the Sherpa bus service now picks up in Llandudno), but we chose instead to walk this route which we could join right outside the door, and which took in the pier and the Great Orme. This immense limestone outcrop enjoys spectacular views all the way along the North Wales coast and is now a nature reserve. We watched gannets diving, wheatears perching on boulders, and silver studded butterflies skipping across wild thyme. We visited the prehistoric copper mines and not
far from the West Shore made our way up to the ruins of Deganwy Castle. We then walked across to the eastern headland of the Little Orme and back along the promenade."
