The North Wales Path is a long distance walk of 60 miles, heading east from Bangor along the coast to Prestatyn (or the other way round if you like).
Very handy for discovering our coastal towns. And for getting to know our wildlife. Oh, and for catching 60 miles of sea views.
The Path connects seaside towns and villages, and you can break it up into smaller sections and take your time. At Llandudno, our largest seaside resort, walk from the Great Orme headland (680 feet to the summit) along the sand and shingle beach to the Little Orme (463 feet) for some incredible sea views and to meet the locals: a herd of Kashmir goats. We’ve more in the way of incredible views from Conwy Mountain: Conwy Castle (a World Heritage Site), Conwy Bay, Llandudno and the Ormes are all visible from the summit – where (with good timing) you can share the experience with a wild pony or two. For a proper seaside walk, catch a train to Abergele, head to the beach and paddle your way back to Rhyl. Discover the marine wildlife at Llanfairfechan’s Lavan Sands, then head inland to Aber Falls at Abergwyngregyn - one of the steepest waterfalls from source to mouth in England and Wales. There are three miles of disused railway line to follow on the Dyserth Way. And if all this isn’t enough, you could always join Offa’s Dyke Path at Prestatyn and just keep on walking.
